Specialisation

• Mafic-ultramafic intrusive and volcanic systems: study of massive and disseminated contact-type and feeder-type Ni-Cu-PGE, hydrothermal PGE mineralization and reef-type PGE mineralization. Locations include: Canada , Australia , China , South Africa , Botswana , India , Brazil and Uruguay
• Komatiites: study of Kambalda-style and Mt Keith-style Ni-Cu-(PGE) mineralization. Locations include: Canada , Australia
• Identification of key petrogenetic indicators to determine igneous processes and source regions in mafic/ultramafic systems. Factors to recognise these processes within deformed and altered Proterozoic and Archean terrains: an understanding of the behaviour of mineral phases, igneous and metamorphic phase equilibria, major, trace element and isotopic systems during different grades of metamorphism and types of alteration.

Expertise

• Discrimination of favourable host lithologies and terrane selection and development of targeting criteria for magmatic Ni-Cu-Co-(PGE), and reef-type and hydrothermal PGE deposits.
• Development of screening criteria to highlight residual petrogenetic indicators within mafic, intermediate and felsic igneous rocks subjected to metamorphism, deformation and alteration of varying grades.
• Regional geological compilation and database construction, manipulation and interrogation.
• Design and implementation of mapping, lithogeochemical and assay sampling programs and management of reconnaissance field programs in remote locations/countries and a variety of terrains.
